Amor Fati: Embracing the Path We Were Given

There are moments in life when we look back and wonder why certain things had to happen. Why certain people came into our lives, why others had to leave, why some decisions changed everything, or why the path we imagined for ourselves ended up taking a completely different direction.

Sometimes, we spend too much time trying to find an explanation.

Amor Fati is about learning to stop fighting those questions.

Our new song, “Amor Fati,” explores the idea of embracing our fate, not because we believe that everything that happens to us is good, but because every experience, even the painful ones, becomes part of who we are.

The title comes from the Latin expression Amor Fati, commonly understood as “love of fate.” It is a concept closely associated with the idea of accepting life as it comes, including the parts we never expected and the moments we would probably rather forget.

For us, that idea became the starting point for the song.

When Different Worlds Meet

From a musical perspective, Amor Fati is also a reflection of the way we see Across Polaris.

We have never wanted to put ourselves inside a single box. Metal is at the heart of what we do, but our musical influences come from many different places, and we wanted that to be heard in this song.

This time, we brought together metal, Hip-Hop, Trap, electronic elements, and modern production techniques, allowing all of these influences to exist within the same composition.

The heavier sections carry the energy and intensity we associate with metal, while the rhythmic elements inspired by Hip-Hop and Trap give the song a different kind of movement. At certain points, the two worlds almost seem to collide, and at others, they naturally become part of the same sound.

That contrast was intentional.

We didn’t want to make a metal song with a few urban elements added on top. We wanted the genres to actually interact with each other and become part of the identity of the song.

For us, Amor Fati is another step in exploring what Across Polaris can sound like when we stop worrying about what a song is “supposed” to be.

Cristopher Mora

One of the most important parts of this release was having Cristopher Mora, an incredibly talented Venezuelan singer, join us for the song.

Christopher brought something very personal to Amor Fati. His voice added a different color to the composition, but more importantly, he connected with the emotional side of the song.

There is something particularly meaningful about collaborating with another Venezuelan artist while working on a project that was born and developed in China.

Across Polaris has always been shaped by different places, cultures, and experiences. Those contrasts are naturally present in our music, and having Cristopher become part of this song added another piece to that identity.

His contribution helped us take the song somewhere we couldn’t have reached on our own.

Belma Sánchez: The Voice Behind the Atmosphere

We also had the special participation of Belma Sánchez, a talented Cuban artist, who joined the production through several voice-over recordings.

From the beginning, we knew that the song needed something beyond the traditional vocal performance. There were certain ideas and emotions that we wanted to communicate almost like fragments of an internal dialogue.

That is where Belma’s voice became important.

Her voice-overs add another layer to the song, creating moments that feel more intimate and reflective. They give the listener a chance to step away from the heavier and more rhythmic sections and connect with the idea behind the music.

It was a different approach for us, but it felt right for Amor Fati.

Accepting the Things We Cannot Change

There is a difference between accepting your fate and simply giving up.

Amor Fati is not about surrendering to life or believing that we have no control over our future. It is about recognizing that there are things we cannot change.

The past is one of them.

We cannot go back and make different decisions. We cannot change the people we lost, erase our mistakes, or rewrite moments that already happened.

What we can do is decide what those experiences mean to us now.

Maybe that is the most difficult part of accepting our fate: understanding that even the things that hurt us can become part of our strength.

Our failures can teach us. Our losses can change us. Our mistakes can show us who we don’t want to be.

And eventually, we may reach a point where we no longer wish that our story had been different.

We simply accept that it is ours.

A Different Side of Across Polaris

With Amor Fati, we wanted to create something that felt honest to us, both musically and emotionally.

The combination of metal, Hip-Hop, Trap, electronic textures, different vocal approaches, and Belma’s voice-overs allowed us to explore a side of Across Polaris that we hadn’t fully explored before.

At the same time, the collaboration with Cristopher Mora and Belma Sánchez reminded us of something we have always believed: music becomes more interesting when different people, cultures, backgrounds, and ideas come together.

Amor Fati is not just another song for us.

It is a reflection on the road we’ve already traveled, the things we couldn’t control, and the person we became because of them.

Maybe we don’t have to love everything that happened to us.

Maybe Amor Fati simply asks us to love the person we became because of it.
