Amor Fati Is Out Now: A War Against Destiny

There are battles fought on the battlefield.

And others fought silently, deep within ourselves.

Amor Fati, the new single by Across Polaris, is now available on all digital platforms, accompanied by a music video that expands upon the concept behind the song: struggle, loss, destiny, and the difficult task of accepting what we cannot change.

The expression Amor Fati, associated with Stoic philosophy and later with the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche, literally means “love of fate.” It is not simply about resigning ourselves to what happens, but about accepting every experience as an inevitable part of our story, including those that have left us with scars.

To represent this idea visually, we decided to take the story into a setting of war.

Old Companions, New Characters

This music video marks the second appearance of Bashir and Samuli in an Across Polaris audiovisual production.

This time, both return to portray two entirely different characters: soldiers and brothers-in-arms alongside Héctor Rivas, who, beyond his essential role as the bassist of Across Polaris, also takes part as an actor in the narrative of the video.

The relationship between these three characters became one of the central elements of the story. We did not want to simply show soldiers in the middle of a war. We wanted to capture the human connection that emerges between people who endure extreme circumstances together.

The war serves as the setting, but also as a metaphor.

A visual representation of the personal battles we all face at some point in our lives.

Between Hangzhou and a Digitally Created Battlefield

The production of the music video was a hybrid process, combining real footage with scenes generated using artificial intelligence.

Part of the video was filmed in Hangzhou, with Cristopher and Yeff, creating sequences that required a physical presence and direct performances in front of the camera.

However, bringing Bashir, Samuli, and Héctor onto an actual battlefield was impossible.

That was where one of the most challenging parts of the entire production began.

The war scenes, soldiers, and battle environments were created using artificial intelligence. But the goal was never simply to generate spectacular images. The real challenge was to make the characters recognizable, believable, and consistent within this universe.

To achieve that, an extensive preparation process was necessary, using references and facial samples from Bashir and Samuli.

Every detail mattered.

Their facial features, expressions, angles, and individual characteristics had to be carefully studied and used as references to achieve a convincing result. Artificial intelligence can generate entire worlds in seconds, but achieving consistency, identity, and realism still requires an enormous amount of work behind every scene.

A Labor of Passion at K4Media Studios

A significant part of this process was made possible through the work carried out alongside Héctor at K4Media Studios in Hangzhou.

The production demanded countless hours of experimentation, testing, and refinement. It was not simply a matter of writing a prompt and waiting for the perfect result. Images had to be reviewed, references selected, results corrected, and scenes generated again and again until we achieved a visual language that could truly serve the narrative of the music video.

Creating believable versions of Bashir and Samuli within a war environment was particularly demanding. Gathering and preparing enough facial references to preserve their identity while placing them in entirely artificial environments became one of the most meticulous aspects of the project.

That is perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of this production.

Technology became a tool.

But behind that tool, there were still people.

Creative decisions, artistic direction, character development, and the intention behind every scene remain deeply human.

War as a Metaphor

In Amor Fati, war does not represent only physical conflict.

It represents the struggle against the things we cannot change.

We all carry moments that, given the opportunity, we would probably erase. Wrong decisions. People we lost. Roads we abandoned. Versions of ourselves that no longer exist.

We spend a great deal of time fighting against the past.

But the past never fights back.

It simply remains there.

Perhaps the real battle begins when we understand that we cannot change what has already happened. And perhaps victory does not mean defeating destiny, but learning to walk alongside it.

That is Amor Fati.

Accepting the scars.

Accepting the losses.

Accepting the wrong turns.

Accepting even those experiences we would never have chosen to live through.

Because, in the end, they are also part of what brought us here.
